Sundance Film “Hounddog” to Reach Approximately 50 Million VOD Households and Major Internet VOD Platforms
LOS ANGELES – May 11, 2009 -- Gravitas Ventures, a licensor and programmer of content across Video On Demand (VOD) platforms, today announced Hounddog is available to consumers across North America on Video On Demand (VOD) through AT&T U-verse, Charter Communications, Cablevision, Comcast, Cox Cable, Time Warner Cable ,Verizon FiOS and many more operators reaching approximately 50 million homes. Additionally, Hounddog can be viewed on many major Internet VOD platforms including Amazon VOD, Apple iTunes, Blockbuster.com and the Microsoft Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
An official selection at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival that was nominated for a Grand Jury Prize, Hounddog stars Dakota Fanning, Robin Wright Penn, David Morse and Piper Laurie. The film was previously released theatrically to receptive audiences in the fall of 2008.
Written and directed by Deborah Kampmeier, Hounddog is provocative Southern tale about a precocious young girl Lewellen and her journey into the beginnings of adulthood and her struggle for freedom. Playing a precocious but abused 12-year-old who finds comfort in Elvis Presley's music, Dakota Fanning steps away from family fare with this powerful drama set in Alabama. While she suppresses her painful memories, will her seemingly indestructible spirit shatter when she suffers a shocking tragedy?
