    Nolan Gallagher
    Founder and CEO {Gravitas Ventures}
    Gallagher will never forget the initial reception for his on-demand platform Gravitas Ventures at the 2005 American Film Market. “I walked into the very first (AFM) suite with my arm outstretched and said, ‘Hi, I want to bring your film to video on demand,’?” recalls the 34-year-old Gallagher. “The (executive there) literally grabbed me by the collar and threw me out shouting, ‘Get the fuck out of here! Video on demand is never going to happen.’?” A Cleveland native, Gallagher was working at Comcast in its Philadelphia headquarters when cable on demand was gaining momentum. He left to earn an MBA in entrepreneurship from the U. of Southern California just prior to starting Gravitas. He built the company into the $10 million-plus business offering 400 independent films a year (culled from 2,000 submissions) to 100 million on-demand households in North America ranging from cable TV to online iTunes. He co-owns the El Segundo, Calif.-based company with executive vice president Michael Murphy.
